The person willing to add me as a joint user is my mom and she has excellent credit and never pays anything late..
ANSWER:
Its called "piggy-backing". You have to make sure their credit history on that credit card is positive as well as a low balance.
30% of your credit score is determined by your balance-to-limit ratio. The further your balances from your limits the better your credit score.
Use your creditors to your advantage by leveraging your money month to month. Pay your necessity bills; phone, gas, electric, etc. with your credit card and use the money you would of originally spent to pay the entire credit card bill. The creditors will see a larger than normal balance movement and raise your limits in hopes of getting you to spend more money and forcing you to pay the minimum payment.

I want to dispute something that I believe to be inaccurate on my credit report. ?
If this does not get removed, will it extend the date of last activity? It is scheduled to drop off in one year but I need it off now, but, if there is a chance it will stay and be there another 7 years.... screw it!
ANSWER:
Dispute it ! It will not extend the activity. You will have a bona fide chance in getting the derogatory item taken off early.

What is the activation fee for a $100 visa card?
ANSWER:
To be absolutely sure, look at the fine print (disclosure) that comes with the credit card. Try your local credit union first for lowest fees.

WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO TRY AND GET A LOAN WITH BAD CREDIT??
I HAVE TERRIBLE CREDIT AND I AM TRYING TO RE ESTABLISH MY CREDIT RATING
ANSWER:
You should try and raise your credit score before obtaining a loan. Your credit score plays a big part in your interest rate as well as the Loan To Value. Are you tying to refinance or purchase? You might need the assistance of credit repair services.

I have a question about my credit.?
I am in the process of rebuilding my credit. I have slowly been rebuilding my credit rating from the absolute bottom up, paying bills on time and the whole nine yards. I have taken out a credit card with a $1000 limit and I always keep the limit below no more than 50% of the balance. I'm thinking of responding to another credit card offer with a higher limit, is this a good/bad idea?
ANSWER:
Go to mycreditkeeper.com and run your credit. It only costs $9.99 for all three bureaus. On the site there is a button when you run your credit report called "what if scenarios". Click on that button and simulate adding an additional revolving credit line. The program will show you how much your credit score will rise or fall.

Any good credit monitoring services that give you your FICO score free as well...?
I want a good monitoring service where the reports are easy to access whenever I want... covers all three major bureaus and also provides updated FICO scores with the service and not for an additional fee. If you know of any good ones - especially from personal experience -- let me know.. thanks
ANSWER:
Mycreditkeeper.com does it all for $9.99 a month. All three credit scores, report, everything. The site has "what-if" scenarios that tell you what will happen to your credit score if you alter your credit report in any way.

Does it hurt your credit to negotiate collection accounts?
I am trying to repair my credit report myself and was told that if I negotiate with my creditors to settle for a lower payoff that it would make my credit score worse? My debts are 2-3 years old, so what happens to my credit report if I pay them or if I file bankruptcy?
ANSWER:
If you end up settling on any of the debts (which should be your last resort), you should get the settlement faxed to you in writing. Then make sure you write your original account number in the memo of the check as well as this "restrictive endorsement" on the front of your check :
By cashing this check Payee agrees to accept this check in full payment of the account as agreed and agrees to remove all derogatory information from Remitter’s Credit Reports.
Your first option should be to dispute the derogatory items with the bureau's reporting them as per "The Fair Credit Reporting Act". You will have a bona-fide chance in getting the items DELETED!
Also send "Validation Letters" to the collection agency's.If you have the time to do the credit repair yourself, you could get a $19.95 do-it-yourself-kit.
